The Problem
Sharpei was founded by the owners of Yakk who decided to keep me in the team for this project that is based in USA. Sharpei is also a startup where I've worked as a product & graphic designer for three years now. The goal here was to create an intuitive, useful and business-centered product that also aligns with the new objectives of the owners.
The Solution
For 3 years now, I've been working to create this whole product and make it intuitive and easy to work with.
The first step was to create a design system so everything was based by the same rules and techniques.
In this case, since there were no other plarform that allowed Ecommerce to rent their products, we had to create it ourselves. Working hand by hand with the CTO we came up with this platform that allows it with a minimum effort on the client's end. We also created from zero the selling plans and insert it on our platform. These selling plans consisted in a percentage calculator that set the prices for the rental. With this product retailers can see the devices and customers, can create a KYC for the clients to see if they are elegible for the rental or not, and many more.
For this to be possible, we created a button that you can find on the retailer's website so customers can choose the temporalities of the rental. With this feature, we created an special check-out for rentals in which customers fill their info so retailers can verify it.
To wrap up the process, I came up with a Customer Portal where they can see the rented products, how many time was left for each rental and report any issues.
Once we had all this, I created the plug-ins for other platforms such as Shopify, PrestaShop and Woocommerce. In Shopify's case, we had to first create a plug-in for consumables subscriptions and it worked so well that we incorporate it on the Sharpei's platform.
